Prices in the store are typically 20% - 30% catalog value. In some cases, due to condition, the store price may be 5%-10% of catalog value. Auctions typically start at {{detail_product_description}}.01. Catalog values in pounds and euros are converted to dollars.
Stamps from Italy and Area are typically checked for varieties in perforation, watermark and design, as well as cancellation evaluations, using most of the above Italian stamp catalogs. UK Machins may also be checked for particular varieties.
Unless noted in the red text above, condition is generally fair to fine; please review scans carefully prior to bidding.
    Payment and terms of sale
I only accept payments through Paypal, with rare exceptions.
Ebay automatically sends reminder emails a few days after bids have been won but are still not paid. Ebay also automatically tracks the length of time for unpaid lots and after several weeks may initiate unpaid cases automatically. Therefore, if you are having difficulties with payment or need to delay payment, please email me so I can note the affected lots.
Items are sold as is. I try to catch faults and indicate them in the description above. If I miss something or you are not satisfied with some other aspect of my service, please email me so I can correct lapses in expectations, offer substitutes, discounts or refunds. (See refund terms below.)
Shipping: FREE for US; .25 for international
For international buyers who are purchasing multiple lots, please wait for my invoice so I can make sure shipping costs are correct (.25 for each order or shipment). If you intend to bid on multiple lots over multiple days, please let me know. I can bundle orders placed over a maximum of seven days. After seven days it becomes too complicated to follow orders, so I must close them out.
Shipping: Additional shipping terms for International Buyers
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges. It is against US and international law to under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms.
If you wish that I send a package via USPS registered mail, please note that I will need to add an additional .00-.00, depending on declared value. Also note that if registered mail packages are lost (and it can happen), USPS may (or may not) refund only a portion of the invoice of the contents, depending on USPS agreements with the mail services of the foreign country in question.
    Shipping: Delivery times
Packages are prepared in the evenings and mailed within 3 business days. Typically, I drop packages off at the local post office on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and sometimes Saturday depending on my work schedule. Ebay automatically sends an email notifying the buyer when I update the order status to mark it as shipped. For first class international mail, please allow up to 3-4 weeks for delivery. Registered mail will likely take longer than regular first class mail.
I can also send US Priority mail, US Express mail, UPS or Fedex. Please email me if you wish to use these expedited services, which are strongly recommended for countries where mail is often lost.
    Shipping: Mishaps & lost packages
Please contact me should a package not arrive after 3-4 weeks. While infrequent, mail can get lost. In my previous selling session from 2009-2012 I had first class mail get lost enroute to Argentina, Bulgaria, India, Italy, Malta, Slovakia, Spain and once in the US, out of 1000s of envelopes and packages mailed. As a buyer, I've also had packages not arrive, particularly from Italy. For possible refunds for lost packages, see "Refund" section below.
    Shipping: Package format
During my 2009-2012 selling session, I included a partial print of each listing for buyer reference. From now on, in order to save on printing, packaging and shipping costs, I will not include a summary.
Stamps are typically placed in a glassine envelope and taped to a stiffener. For international shipments I use a regular envelope to avoid customs forms and potential delivery delays. For US mail, I may use a regular or bubble wrap envelope, depending on the quantity of lots to mail.
Please let me know if you wish the contents to be wrapped in a sealed plastic bag for protection from rain.
    Refunds
Please email me within thirty days of receipt of the item(s) if anything is not satisfactory. I can send a replacement if available, offer a refund or discount, or offer other stamps. Your "transaction satisfaction" is important to me.
For stamps accurately described in the listing but ultimately not desired, the buyer will be responsible for paying return postage. See also the return policy note in the Ebay "Shipping" tab above.
For lost packages (see above), if the total cost of the item(s) won or purchased is less than .00, depending on frequency of lost items and current sales, I may refund the full amount. For packages with contents over .00 I believe it is only fair to evenly split the loss with the buyer.
    Listing schedule
Under development. Due to recent changes in Ebay selling fee structure, auction listings will need to remain active for a minimum of 7 days.
    About my stamp collection
My stamp collection consists of well over 900,000 stamps, with very strong Italy and area (350,000+/-), Europe (200,000+/-), USA (100,000+/-), UK (50,000+/-) and worldwide (200,000+/-). Italy is very nearly complete and has very strong used duplication, especially of the Repubblica years (after 1945). The Italian area (territories, colonies, foreign offices, San Marino, Vatican, SMOM) is very spotty since the bulk of this sector was sold previously in 2009-2012. Europe is quite strong, with heavy used duplication in the typical definitive issues. Strong countries include Germany, France and Austria, but most countries are well represented. The vast majority of the US collection is used with heavy duplication, ranging from the classic period to now. The UK collection is also primarily used, ranges from the classic period to late 1990s and has a very strong machin collection with heavy duplication. The worldwide collection features Canada, Australia, Israel, Iran, India and Japan as strong countries, again with a lot of duplicated used definitives. Africa and Asia are better represented, while South America, Central America and Oceania less so.
In short, the collection is mostly of low catalog value and used stamps, in some cases heavily duplicated. Nevertheless, there are some pricier items I will post from time to time.
    About me
After stamp collecting since 1975, I have decided to sell nearly all of my stamp collection. I have been an Ebay stamp buyer since 2000, and collect as a hobby. I am NOT a professional philatelist; I am a practicing architect and do this strictly as a hobby.
I hope you enjoy what I have to offer, and thanks again for reading all this verbiage.
