  • Condition: This horn is in excellent playing condition and overall very nice-looking. It plays with a nice big sound, and easy response. Cleaned, valves polished, all major dent-work done, solder joints repaired, some new corks & felts. Valves and valve guides are excellent condition, smooth, low noise. Nice-looking but scratches, dings, and remnants of some dent work occur throughout outer wrap and bell areas. Silver finish is in nice condition throughout the horn--only a couple of small spots show through. Comes WITHOUT a mouthpiece (requires a Large-shank size). Mouthpieces are available in stock if you wish to add one to the order. A case will be provided if available at time of purchase.

    Description

    This is a really nice-looking Bright silver 3-valve King Baritone built in 1984, one of the best models in it's class available today.  The offset valve cluster provides a very comfortable hold for many people.  It is a non-compensating easier blowing intermediate/college level model.  The horn plays extremely well with a nice rich big sound, excellent response, and smooth valve action.   I recommend either
    Small (Tenor) Shank
    Bach, Schilke or Dennis Wick mouthpieces no smaller than a Bach 12 for best response.  Schilke, or Dennis Wick SM3, 3.5, 4, or 5AL are ideal for the best tone and response.
    This horn required disassembly of the bottom bow to remove the dents.  The horn was played and tested during the repair to catch as many issues as possible.  Corks and felts are new or in good condition.  Valve and slide alignments were checked  for optimum performance. There are small dings and surface scratches remaining but all the major dents are removed and smoothed out.  The bell was brought back into round and is fairly  smooth with a solid bell wire. Light wrinkle marks are still visible in the surface of the bell.
