Description
Phillips three speed bike. Thought to be a 1957 year, or there about, model built by Phillips before its acquisition by Raleigh, the Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub has a "57" date stamp on it. 28 inch wheels, marked Dunlop 28 x 1 1/2 w.o. on the steel rims. Serial number stamped on frame is N5943351. Bike frame size is 22 inches, or 56 cm, measured center to top. The stand over height is 32 1/2 inches, so this is a large size bike meant for a taller rider.Bike was found in original condition, with the original rotted Dunlop tires on it. There are some faded decals that appear to indicate that the bike was purchased from a shop in Hong Kong. The bike was dismantled and then cleaned and lubed on all bearing surfaces. New tires and tubes along with a new chain were installed. I installed new brake pads on the rod brake system. One of the handlebar grips has a split in it. Saddle is a Brooks B66, worn with small splits in the leather but soft and usable.
The green paint is original with scratches. The rear white portion of the rear fender was repainted and a new reflector installed. Decals are present but vary in condition. The rack has rust on it. There is NOT a kickstand. Original frame mounted tire pump included but no longer functions.
The bike rides, stops and shifts well. However, it is about 64 years old so don't expect a new bike.
Bike weighs 40 pounds and will have to be partially taken apart to be shipped in two boxes. You will be responsible for reassembly and adjustments Listed shipping price is for lower 48 US states only, other locations will be much higher, ask about those before bidding.
