Description
Cycle Electric Generator DGV-5000L Low Voltage Harley-Davidson 1965-84 USA madeIf you need to replace the generator on your generator model Harley-Davidson motorcycle 1965 - 1984 this will do the trick. This is a complete charging system complete with regulator. Higher service output than a stock generator backed by a 2 year Cycle Electric guarantee. Repair service is available after 2 years; this is the last generator you will ever need to buy for your bike. The "L" or low voltage model comes with a low voltage regulator specially tuned for a small 12-volt battery. This is especially important when using a small battery in a horseshoe oil tank. The low volt was designed for use when converting from a 6-volt system to a 12-volt system. These low voltage models also have Cycle Electric 'M' option which assures cradle clearance when installing on 1957 and earlier motors. There are two methods to mount a two-brush generator on 1957 and earlier motors. One is to enlarge the mounting holes in the engine case to fit the larger 5/16" bolts. The second method is to use helicoils to reduce the 5/16-24 threads in the mounting holes down to 1/4-24 and use the stock bolts. I recommend using the 1/4-24 bolts then shimming and strapping. Made in the U.S.A. by Cycle Electric right here in Ohio!
