A tough 1804 plain 4, with stems, Draped Bust Half Cent graded AU 55 BN by NGC. It holds an excellent strike throughout both sides with nice dark brown original surfaces. A very tough variety to find, especially in this grade level. It has been notated to specifically be the C-11 variety according to NGC.
This coin carries a massive mintage of 1,655,312. Of this mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 50 have survived being the plain 4, with stems variety such as this one. This coin is one of only two graded About Uncirculated 55 Brown by NGC. At the time of this listing, this coin is tied for the highest graded designated as a brown for this particular variety.
